Encourages an institututional value system based on ecologically and economically sustainable land ethic. Members: 10,400. Dues: $35/year.
Publications: Forest Magazine (quarterly); free to members, $35 annual subscription for nonmembers.

Johnston is finishing up a master's degree in forestry at Oregon State University and works part-time for the nonprofit group Forest Service Employees for Environmental Ethics.
The Forest Service Employees for Environmental Ethics (FSEEE), an eco-activist group, claimed that the government's use of nearly 18 million gallons of retardant is not in compliance with the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act and the National Environmental Policy Act.
Also in October, Forest Service Employees for Environmental Ethics sued over aerial spraying of fire retardants in Montana, because the program had not gone through proper public and inter-agency processes to determine the effects on water quality.
