Fort Clinch State Park Location: North of Fernandina Beach, off A1A. Facilities: 62 full-facility campsites with restrooms and hot showers, youth group campsites with restrooms, beaches, restrooms/changing rooms, showers, fishing pier, nature trails, picnic areas, visitor center. Activities: Camping, saltwater fishing, swimming, shelling, hiking, bicycling, wildlife viewing, guided tours. Special Features: Part of the state park system since 1935, Fort Clinch is one of the best-preserved 19th Century forts in the US. Although no battles were fought here, it was garrisoned during both the Civil War and the Spanish-American War. Tours of the fort are held daily, with period reenactments that depict garrison life.
