Fort Foster State Historic Site Location: Fort is part of Hillsborough River State Park (see separate entry) but is located on the east side of US 301 from the park. Facilities: Interpretive center at Hillsborough River State Park has exhibits about the fort. Activities: Guided tours (weekends only); interpretive programs at the Ranger Station at Hillsborough River State Park. Special Features: Fort Foster is a replica wood picket style fort constructed on the site of the original fort, which was one of the Seminole War forts constructed during the early 1800s.
