Fort Leaton State Historic Site Location: 4 miles southeast of Presidio in the western portion of the state. Facilities: Picnic areas, historic structure, interpretive center, park store, restrooms. Activities: Guided tours. Special Features: Fort Leaton was built in 1848 as a trading post and dominated border trade with the Apache and Comanche Indians. The park offers guided tours and exhibits on 15th century history, natural history, and the archeology of the area.
