Fort Simcoe State Park Location: 30 miles west of Toppenish on Highway 220. Facilities: Picnic shelter, interpretive center, hiking trail, historical sites, museum, game courts, ball fields. Activities: Hiking, sightseeing, wildlife observation. Special Features: Fort Simcoe was an 1850s-era military installation established to keep peace between the settlers and the Indians. Five original buildings are still standing at the fort; various others have been recreated. Some of the buildings are open to the public.
