Established: Authorized on June 20, 1966.
Location: 25 miles southwest of Williston, North Dakota, and 24 miles north of Sidney, Montana.
Facilities: Rest rooms (é), visitor center (é), museum/exhibit, self-guided tour/trail.
Activities: Hiking, fishing, cross-country skiing, self-guided tour, interpretive programs.
Special Features: The principal fur-trading post of the American Fur Company in the Upper Missouri River region from 1828 to 1867, Fort Union served the Assiniboine, Crow, Cree, Ojibway, and Blackfeet tribes. Park encompasses portions of North Dakota and Montana.
