Fouqué, Friedrich Heinrich Karl, Baron de La Motte- (frē`drĭkh hīn`rĭkh kärl bärōn` də lä môt-f kā`), 1777–1843, German poet and novelist. He wrote many chivalric romances, tales, and plays based on Norse mythology. He is chiefly remembered, however, for his fairy tale of the nymph who had no soul, Undine (1811), of which there have been innumerable editions in English.How to thank TFD for its existence?
