Frank, Mary

Frank, Mary (b. Lockspeiser) (1933–  ) sculptor; born in London, England. She and her American mother settled in New York City (1940), where she studied dance with Martha Graham (1949). She lived with her photographer husband, Robert Frank, in New York and the Catskills, before their divorce. She became known for her clay assemblages, drawing on evolutionary and mythological themes, as seen in Swimmer (1978).
