Franklin, Edward Curtis (1862–1937) chemist, educator; born in Geary City, Kans. After studying in Germany and teaching at the University of Kansas (1899–1903), he joined the faculty at Stanford University (1903–29). He is known for his work on the ammonia system of acids, bases, and salts, as well as on the structure of nitrogenous compounds. |
