Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park Location: On SR 20, 5 miles east of Highway 85. Facilities: 42 full-facility campsites, showers, pavilions, playground, trails, boat ramp. Activities: Camping, boating, canoeing/kayaking, saltwater and freshwater fishing, hiking, bicycling, wildlife viewing. Special Features: Rocky Bayou, the main feature of the park, is the trailing arm of Choctawhatchee Bay. The property also preserves the old-growth (some over 300 years old) longleaf pines that once dominated this part of Florida. US Air Force Colonel Fred Gannon, for whom the park is named, was instrumental in transforming the site from a World War II bombing practice range to a picturesque state park.
