Fred Meijer White Pine Trail State Park Location: Between Cadillac and Grand Rapids. Take US 131 north to Post Drive, turn right onto Belmont Road and continue to Rogue River Road, where park entrance is on the left. Facilities: Trail is open from Cadillac to Comstock Park. The trail surface is natural ballast and hard packed gravel, with 13 miles of asphalt pavement from Reed City to Big Rapids and 7 miles of asphalt pavement from just north of Rockford to Belmont. Activities: Hiking, bicycling, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling. Special Features: The corridor of the trail was formerly Penn Central Railroad, also known as the Michigan Northern. There are 14 open-deck bridges along the route. The largest bridge is 319 feet long and crosses the Muskegon River one mile north of Big Rapids.
