Freeman, John Ripley (1855–1932) engineer; born in West Bridgeton, Maine. He worked primarily on water projects, consulting on water power, drainage, and municipal water supply in Boston. In 1903 he was chief engineer on the Charles River Dam in Boston Harbor and was later involved in projects in Los Angeles and other cities.
