Frey

Frey (frā), Norse god. He was a beneficent deity associated with the fertilizing powers of the sun and the rain and, like his sister Freyja Freyja or Freya , Norse goddess of love, marriage, and fertility. Her identity and attributes were often confused with those of the goddess Frigg.

Freyr

 or Frey

Norse god of peace, fertility, rain, and sun, one of a group of fertility deities called Vanir. The son of Njörd and brother of Freyja, he was especially venerated in pre-Christian Sweden, where he was considered the progenitor of the royal line. The best-known story about him told of his love and lust for the giantess Gerd, who was wooed and won for him by his servant. His worship was believed to bring good weather and great wealth.


Frey 

(also Freyr), in Scandinavian mythology, the god of fertility, wealth, and peace. Frey is the brother and sometimes the husband of Freya. According to many accounts he is married to Gerth, who is apparently an earth goddess. Frey is associated with the marvelous ship Skidbladnir and the golden boar Gyllenborste.

Frey was worshiped throughout Scandinavia, especially in Sweden. He was also known as Yngvi, from which appellative the name of the Swedish royal house of Yngling was derived.
