Fridliander, Iosif Naumovich 

Born Sept. 28, 1913, in Andizhan. Soviet physical metallurgist. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1976). Member of the CPSU since 1942.

Fridliander graduated from the N. E. Bauman Moscow Higher Technical School in 1937. His main works deal with the physical metallurgy of light alloys. He received the State Prize of the USSR in 1949 and the Lenin Prize in 1963. Fridliander has been awarded four orders and various medals.
