Fromm-Reichmann, Frieda (1889–1957) psychiatrist, psychoanalyst; born in Karlsruhe, Germany. She emigrated to the United States in 1935 and became a disciple of Harry Stack Sullivan. She pioneered psychotherapeutic methods with schizophrenic patients and contributed to the understanding of the psychic assets of the mentally ill. For some years (1926–42) she was married to the philosopher and psychologist Erich Fromm.
