Fujita, Tetsuya or Theodore (1920– ) meteorologist; born in Kitakyushu City, Japan. He came to the University of Chicago in 1953 to teach and research the prediction of severe local storms using satellites and aerial photography. He described the wind shear phenomenon called the microburst. He became a U.S. citizen in 1968.
