Furness, Horace Howard (fûr`nĭs), 1833–1912, American Shakespearean scholar, b. Philadelphia; son of William Henry Furness. He was the editor of the New Variorum edition of Shakespeare (plays published separately, 1871–1913). His son, Horace Howard Furness, Jr., 1865–1930, succeeded him as editor and donated his father's Shakespearean library to the Univ. of Pennsylvania. How to thank TFD for its existence?
