Guidelines for the Definition of Managed Objects.

A standard (ISO/IEC 10165-4) for defining data models on ASN.1

GDMO

(Guidelines for Definition of Managed Objects) The rules for defining the elements (objects) that are managed in a LAN (workstations, servers, switches, etc.). Supported by the CMIP and TMN management standards, the resulting descriptions are used in MIBs for network management. GDMO provides a strict inheritance hierarchy for object classes and a tree structure for object names. ASN.1 is used for syntax. See CMIP, TMN, MIB and ASN.1.

Equally important, the Model Organizer establishes a protocol-neutral representation of GDMO documents by creating generic managed object classes (with attributes and operations) in UML.
The Model Checker finds and reports errors in "basic" syntax (names, relationships between managed object classes and packages) and in the mapping from UML to GDMO (makes sure structures are present, checks that mandatory GDMO property fields are complete).
