Gaidukov, Nikolai Mikhailovich 

Born Nov. 20 (Dec. 2), 1874, in Gus’ Khrustal’nyi; died Nov. 29, 1928, in Minsk. Soviet botanist and algologist.

Gaidukov graduated from Moscow University (1898) and taught at higher educational institutions in St. Petersburg, Kiev, Moscow, Ivanovo-Voznesensk, and Minsk. He worked at the Petrograd Botanical Gardens and the Zeiss factories in Jena (1905-1910). Gaidukov’s main works were on the physiology and ecology of freshwater plants, the use of the ultramicroscope in plant cytology, and seed research.
