Gainullin, Mukhamet Khairullovich
Born Aug. 18 (31), 1903, in the village of Kyzyltau, in present-day Apastovo Raion, Tatar ASSR. Soviet literary scholar. Doctor of philology (1958), professor, Honored Scientist of the Tatar ASSR (1963). Member of the CPSU since 1941. Gainullin was born into a peasant family. He graduated from the Eastern Pedagogical Institute of Kazan in 1931. From 1944 to 1954 and from 1959 to 1961 he was director of the Institute of Language, History, and Literature of the Kazan branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.
