Gaisin 

a city, center of Gaisin Raion, Vinnitsa Oblast, Ukrainian SSR, situated on the Sob River (of the Iuzhnyi Bug River basin), 94 km southeast of Vinnitsa. Railroad station. Population, 23,700 (1970). The food industry is well developed in Gaisin and is represented by a meat combine, a sugar plant, a fruit cannery, a butter and cheese plant, and a distillery. There are also garment and furniture factories as well as a medical school. Gaisin arose in 1600 and became a city in 1795.
