Sayers, Gale (Eugene) (1943– ) football player; born in Wichita, Kans. An All-American at the University of Kansas, he was a brilliant breakaway runner. As a rookie with the Chicago Bears, he scored six touchdowns in a 1965 game on his way to the league scoring title. He led the National Football League in rushing twice (1966, 1969), set the record for average kickoff returns, and was all-league five times. How to thank TFD for its existence?
