Gallier, James, Sr. (1798–1866) builder/architect; born in Ravensdale, County Louth, Ireland. He arrived in New Orleans in 1834 and, collaborating with Charles and James Dakin among others, dominated that city's architecture with his Greek Revival buildings until retiring in 1850.
