Galsanov, Tseden Galsanovich 

(or Tsydenzhap Galsanovich Galsanov). Born Feb. 10 (23), 1917, in the ulus (Tatar settlement) of Il’ka, present-day aimak (district) of Zaigraevo, Buriat ASSR. Soviet Buriat poet. Member of the CPSU since 1962.

Galsanov’s first works were published in 1931. He is the author of the narrative poems Four Days and Three Nights (1939), Competition for Wisdom (1940), Echo on Lake Chudskoe (1943), Pavel Baltakhinov (1945, about the popular hero), Poem About the Five-year Plan (1947), and My Jolly Friends (1962). He also wrote the collections of poems Baikal Waves (1940), The Soviet Sun (1951), and We Are Young (1959). Galsanov’s work is devoted to the theme of the friendship and unity of the Soviet peoples and their heroic labor. He translated works by A. S. Pushkin, A. S. Griboedov, N. A. Nekrasov, and V. V. Mayakovsky into Buriat. Galsanov has been awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor and medals.
