kaoliang (kä'ōlēăng`): see sorghum sorghum, tall, coarse annual (Sorghum vulgare) of the family Gramineae ( grass family), somewhat similar in appearance to corn (but having the grain in a panicle rather than an ear) and used for much the same purposes.
