Figure in the Spanish working-class movement.

García Oliver was one of the leaders of the Anarchist movement in Spain after 1920 and a comrade of B. Durruti. During the National Revolutionary War of 1936-39, García Oliver directed the antifascist militia of Catalonia (July-September 1936). From November 1936 to May 1937 he was minister of justice in the Popular Front government. He advocated unity of action between working-class and antifascist organizations and fought against the capitulationists. He has been in emigration in Latin America since the fall of the republic.
