Gargano Promontoryancient GarganumMountainous promontory jutting into the Adriatic Sea from eastern coast of Italy. Called “the spur of the Italian boot,” it is 40 mi (65 km) long and 25 mi (40 km) at its widest, rising to 3,494 ft (1,065 m) at Mount Calvo.
