Gas Dynamics Laser

a gas laser in which an occupancy inversion of the vibrational energy levels for gas molecules is created by an adiabatic cooling of supersonic gas mass flows preheated to a high temperature (1000° C to 2000° C, after cooling their temperature is 350° C). The required gas composition and temperature can be obtained by burning previously selected substances, for example, CO with air.
