Gasperoni, Ermenegildo
Born Aug. 4, 1906, in San Marino. Figure in the Communist movement in the Republic of San Marino. In 1926, Gasperoni joined the French Communist Party. From 1930 to 1936 he was a member of the Luxembourg Communist Party. From 1936 to 1938 he participated in the antifascist war of the Spanish people. He served as a battalion political commissar in the 12th International Garibaldi Brigade and was a member of the Spanish Communist Party. In 1941 he was one of the leaders in the revival of the San Marino Communist Party; he became general secretary of the party in 1945.
