Gaussian weighing method [′gau̇s·ē·ən ′wā·iŋ ‚meth·əd]

(engineering)

A method used to determine the accuracy of equal-arm balances and to test standard weights in which the sample is placed on one pan and the comparative weights on the other, and then the weights are interchanged in a second weighing.
