Gavriil Loginovich Pribylov

Pribylov, Gavriil Loginovich 

Date of birth unknown; died 1796. Russian navigator.

From 1781 to 1786, Pribylov was in command of the Sv. Georgii, which belonged to the Russian American Company. In 1788 he sailed in the Bering Sea and discovered St. George Island and St. Paul Island (north of the Aleutian Islands) in the group named the Pribilof Islands by G. I. Shelikhov in 1789.
