Gear Box
a gear-ratio mechanism for step-changing the frequency (speed) of rotation of a driven shaft in relation to a driving shaft operating at a constant rotation frequency. The gearbox consists of sliding gear drives located in a separate housing or in a common housing with the other mechanisms. Another term for the mechanism that feeds into the driving wheels of an automobile and other transport vehicles is “transmission.” Want to thank TFD for its existence?
