Gegenbaur, Karl(born Aug. 21, 1826, Würzburg, Bavaria—died June 14, 1903, Heidelberg, Ger.) German anatomist. A strong supporter of Charles Darwin's theory of evolution, he showed that comparative anatomy supplies evidence of it.
