Geleff, Poul
Born Jan. 6, 1842, in Bredebro; died May 16, 1928, on Capri. Danish political figure and one of the first propagandists of the ideas of scientific socialism in Denmark. From 1871 to 1877 (with interruptions), Geleff contributed to the newspaper Socialisten, which became the Social Demokraten in May 1874. In October 1871 he was one of the initiators of the formation in Copenhagen of the Danish section of the First International and its many provincial branches. From 1872 to 1875, Geleff was in prison for his revolutionary activities. In March 1877 he emigrated to the USA. In 1920, Geleff returned to Denmark. A. S. KAPLIN Want to thank TFD for its existence?
