Gelonoi
an ancient tribe in Herodotus’ Scythia, also mentioned by ancient Greek and Latin authors. According to Herodotus, the Gelonoi were Hellenes by origin who had migrated from Greek cities to the land of the Budins, where they had a wooden city called Gelon. They engaged in agriculture and horticulture and took part in the war of the Scythians against the Persian king Darius I. The Greeks of Olbia reckoned them Budins, that is, considered them a local tribe. REFERENCE“Izvestiia drevnikh pisatelei grecheskikh i latinskikh o Skifii i Kavkaze, sobral i izd. V. V.
