Geneva Summit

(1955) Meeting in Geneva of the leaders of the U.S., France, Britain, and the Soviet Union that sought to end the Cold War. Such issues as disarmament, unification of Germany, and increased economic ties were discussed. Though no agreements were reached, the conference was considered an important first step toward easing Cold War tension.

As details of the talks began to emerge, a number of Western sources have reported that, in a rare development, senior Iranian and US officials met in bilateral talks on the sidelines of the Geneva summit throughout the day.
Shultz was talking about the Lake Geneva summit and mentioned the two leaders ducked out of a meeting to take a walk to a nearby cabin.
Several Muslim nations at the Geneva summit have called for moves to prevent perceived insults to Islam, which they say have proliferated since the attacks in the United States on September 11, 2001.
