Genkin, Dmitrii Mikhailovich 

Born Sept. 19, 1884, in Kaluga; died Jan. 24, 1966, in Moscow. Soviet jurist. Honored Scientist of the RSFSR (1945). Doctor of juridical sciences (1940). Member of the CPSU from 1964. Specialist in civil law.

Genkin worked as a researcher and teacher of law from 1909. In 1919 he became a professor at the G. V. Plekhanov Institute of the National Economy, and from 1919 to 1921 he served as rector of the institute. Genkin was a professor at the All-Union Academy of Foreign Trade and president of the Foreign Trade Arbitration Commission. He was the author of scientific works dealing chiefly with the theory of civil law, legal questions related to foreign trade, and legal control of the operations of industrial enterprises. Genkin was awarded the Order of Lenin, three other orders, and also medals.
