Miasnikov, Gennadii Alekseevich
Born Sept. 12, 1919, in the village of Sosnovka, in present-day Perm’ Oblast. Soviet artist. People’s Artist of the RSFSR (1969); became a member of the CPSU in 1972. Miasnikov graduated from the Perm’ School of Art in 1938 and from the art department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography in 1943. He designs sets for color films. He collaborated with the artist M. A. Bogdanov on the films The Stone Flower (1946), Michurin (1949), Brave Men (1950), Przheval’skii (1952), The Heroes of Shipka (1955, with Bulgarian artist G. Popov), The Communist (1958), Journey Beyond the Three Seas (1958, with the Indian artist Achrekar), The Cossacks (1961), The Hussar Ballad (1962), and War and Peace (series 1–4, 1966–67). He did the art work on the films Belated Flowers (1970), Messengers of Eternity (1971), Engineer Pronchatov (1972), and Affairs of the Heart (1974). Since 1943, Miasnikov has taught at the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (a docent since 1960). He has been awarded two orders. WORKSKhudozhnik kinofil’ma.
