Gennargentu 

mountains in the central part of the island of Sardinia, Italy. Maximum height, 1,834 m (Mt. La Marmora, the highest point on the island). They are made up mainly of granites. The slopes are mostly rounded and covered with Mediterranean shrub formations and in the western part by rare chestnut forests.
