Geoffroy’s Dolphin 

(Inia geoffrensis), a mammal of the family Platanistidae, order Cetus. Length of adult males, 2–2.5 m; females, 1.9–2.3 m. The long and narrow snout is covered with sparse bristles; the teeth (104—132) are sharp with broad roots; the dorsal fin is small. Coloring of the young dolphins is pinkish yellow-gray; the adults are pale blue on top and white below. Geoffroy’s dolphins live in the rivers of South America—the Amazon and Orinoco and their tributaries. They stay in small schools or alone, swimming at speeds reaching 18 km/hr. They feed on fish and crabs and have no commercial value.
