Klebs, Georg
Born Oct. 23, 1857, in Neidenburg; died Oct. 15, 1918, in Heidelberg. German botanist. Klebs became a professor at the University of Basel in 1887, the University of Halle in 1898, and the University of Heidelberg in 1907. His principal works were devoted to the developmental physiology and experimental morphology of higher plants, the history, development, and biology of algae and fungi, and the physiology of the plant cell.
