Georgievskaia, Anastasiia Pavlovna
Born Oct. 25 (Nov. 7), 1914, in Orel. Soviet Russian actress; People’s Artist of the USSR (1968). Member of the CPSU since 1940. Georgievskaia graduated from the State Institute of Theatrical Arts in 1935 and became a member of the Moscow Art Academic Theater in 1936. She made her debut in the role of Taisiia in Gorky’s Dostigaev and the Others. Among her roles are Natasha in Chekhov’s Three Sisters, the Stepmother in Marshak’s Twelve Months, Lushka in Virta’s Our Daily Bread, Domna in Sofronov’s The Heart Doesn’t Forgive, Potapova in The Battle on the Road (adapted from G. Nikolaeva’s work of the same name), and Ksenia in Gorky’s Egor Bulychov and the Others. Her film roles include Anna Andreevna in Gogol’s The Inspector-General, 1952, and Maria Pavlovna in What If This Is Love?, 1962. A recipient of the State Prize of the USSR in 1951, Georgievskaia was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor as well as various medals. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
