Gerasimov, Vasilii Gerasimovich 

Born January 1852 in St. Petersburg; died Mar. 28 (Apr. 9), 1892, in Yakutsk. Russian worker and revolutionary.

In 1864, Gerasimov began to work in the Krenholm factory in Narva, and in 1872 he took part in a strike there. In 1875 he began working at the Cheshire factory in St. Petersburg and, under the leadership of V. M. D’iakov, he was active in propaganda work in the Vyborg Side area among workers and the soldiers of the Moscow Regiment. In April 1875 he was arrested with illegal literature in his possession. On July 17, 1875, he was sentenced to nine years penal servitude, which he served in the Novoborisoglebsk and Novobelgorod central prisons, in Siberia, and on the Kara River. After 1883 he lived in exile in Yakutsk Oblast.
