Gerasimovich, Boris Petrovich

Gerasimovich, Boris Petrovich 

Born Mar. 19, 1889; died in 1937. Soviet astronomer. Born in Kremenchug, he graduated from the University of Kharkov in 1914 and was appointed a professor there in 1922. From 1933 to 1937 he was director of the Pulkovo Observatory. His major works were devoted to the nonstationarity of stars, the internal structure of stars, stellar evolution, stellar statistics, the physics of interstellar medium and planetary nebulas, the composition of stellar atmospheres, theoretical astronomy, solar physics, and other areas.
