Gezekhus, Nikolai Aleksandrovich 

Born Jan. 17, 1845, in St. Petersburg; died 1919 in Petrograd. Russian physicist.

Gezekhus was a professor at the University of Tomsk, where he was rector in 1888-89. From 1889 to 1918 he was a professor and rector of the St. Petersburg Institute of Technology. His works deal with problems of molecular physics, in particular of the spheroidal state of liquids, and with problems of electricity and acoustics. He designed a number of measuring instruments for lecture demonstrations. Gezekhus was editor of Zhurnal Russkogo fiziko-khimicheskogo obshchestva (Journal of the Russian Physical Chemistry Society) from 1911 to 1918.
