Ghazipur (gä`zēp r'), town (1991 pop. 76,547), Uttar Pradesh state, N central India, on the Ganges River. A district administrative center, Ghazipur is the headquarters of the Indian government's opium monopoly. There is also handloom weaving and a perfume industry.
