Ghosh, Amalananda 

Born Mar. 3, 1910, in Banaras. Indian archaeologist.

Ghosh was the general director of the Archaeological Survey of India from 1953 to 1968. He is editor in chief of the journal Ancient India and publisher of accounts of the investigations of Indian archaeologists (Indian Archaeology). The organizer and director of many archaeological expeditions, he is well known for his investigations in Pachmarhi, Taxila, Arikamedu, Harappa, and Ahichhattra.
