The ghost of Christmas Past vanished in and out of a mirror, while Scrooge's departed sidekick Jacob Marley's dramatic appearance drew shouts of surprise from the stalls.
Quite scary and dark in places when the Ghost of Christmas Past appears, there's a laugh or two to be had as well.
The first, appearing at the stroke of 1am, is the Ghost Of Christmas Past who takes the grumpy old coot on a tour of his childhood haunts.
