Gitalov, Aleksandr Vasil’evich 

Born May 14 (27), 1915, in the village of Kamyshevatoe, Novoukrainsk Raion, Kirovograd Oblast. Innovator in the field of kolkhoz production methods, one of the initiators of a totally mechanized agriculture. Brigade leader of the tractor team of the Twentieth Congress of the CPSU Kolkhoz in Novoukrainsk Raion, Kirovograd Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Twice Hero of Socialist Labor (1948, 1958). Member of the CPSU since 1948.

Gitalov started working in the Kamyshevatoe kolkhoz in 1929 and completed the course for tractor drivers in 1934. In 1936 he became the brigade leader of the tractor team. Gitalov was a delegate at the Twentieth through Twenty-third Congresses of the CPSU. In 1956 he became a member of the Central Committee of the Ukrainian Communist Party. He was a deputy to the third through eighth convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. A member of the Soviet Committee for the Defense of Peace, Gitalov has been awarded the Lenin Prize, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, and medals.
