Giusti, Giuseppe

Also found in: Hutchinson 0.07 sec.
Giusti, Giuseppe (jzĕp`pā js`tē), 1809–50, Italian satirical poet. He directed his original and ironic polemics against Austrian rule and also attacked demagoguery and graft. The idiomatic Tuscan of his verse and its contemporary character attracted a wide audience but have detracted from its lasting popularity.
